About

Kościelec Ridge is well known among the Tatra mountaineers community.

It is a great choice for everyone who want to challenge themselves with a big exposure, and knife edge ridge climb. It surely deserves place number one, for this type of climbs, in the Polish Tatra Mountains.

An easy access and very good quality of granit rock makes it easy for good protection, safety and makes climbing a pure joy.

Climbing and timing

Guided trip to Kościelec Ridge starts at the bottom station of Kasprowy Wierch cable car. At first we make a good use of the cablecar and gain the altitude in just 15 min of the ride. This will save us at least 2 hours of approach. After the fascinating ride we descent from Kasprowy Wierch into Hala Gąsienicowa, from where we have just 1 hour of moderate hike towards the start of our ridge.

Climb itself is moderate difficulty, but accessible for most hikers.

Time needed for conquering the ridge is between 2 and 4 hours. It mostly depends on the climb traffic and ability of clients.

After reaching the highest point of the ridge - Kościelec 2115 m., we descent using a signed hikers path to Murowaniec hut, which serves selection of tasty dishes and beer :)

With a new energy we continue descending towards our start point ( Kuźnice), where we should arrive after 1.30 h of pleasant hike.

Whole outing will last about 8 - 10 hours.
