Żabi Koń

Location

Żabi Koń 2291 m. is easy to recognised by its characteristic, sharp east arete. It lays on the main ridge of  the Tatra Mountains between Poland’s highest peak - Rysy and Żabia Turnia Mięguszowiecka.

Looking at this peak, from either Polish or Slovakian side of the Tatra Mountains, it resembles shark fin.

Climbing Żabi Koń with a guide guarantee emotions, breathtaking views as well as the highest level of safety.

Climbing and timing

The approach to the climb starts from Slovakian side of the Tatras. The beginning is straightforward and easy as we use a signed path. After 2 hours of treking towards Rysy peak, we leave the bitten track and traverse a massive Terrace in Rysy towards Żabia Przełęcz.

From here the most challenging and airy part of the climb starts.

The East Ridge of Żabi Koń is truly amazing and unforgettable. It is so thin, that you are able to hold it comfortably and climb on the side of it.

Climbing is never harder then grade III UIAA , but the character of knife blade ridge makes it worth any hassle. Once the top is reached, three abseils are needed to reach an easier ground.

Usually it takes 10-12 hours to complete this outing
