Mont Blanc
Climbing Mont Blanc at 4,810 meters is an extraordinary experience that attracts people from all over the world—not just because of its height, but also due to the mountain’s history and beauty. To do it safely and significantly increase your chances of reaching the summit, I encourage you to take advantage of my guiding services. Mont Blanc captures the imagination, even when viewed from a distance. It's like a magnet for those who want to test their limits. As the highest peak in the Alps and all of Western Europe, reaching its summit carries a sense of prestige. The magic of Mont Blanc also lies in the journey itself. Climbing through glaciers, snowfields, and rocky ridges creates the atmosphere of a true alpine adventure. The views are spectacular, and watching the sunrise during the summit push is one of those moments that stays with you forever. The moment you reach the top is often hard to describe—it's a mix of joy, relief, exhaustion, and emotion.
HOW DOES CLIMBING MONT BLANC WITH AN IVBV MOUNTAIN GUIDE WORK?
The entire expedition lasts five or six days and is divided into two main stages:
- Stage 1: Acclimatization
The process of adapting your body to altitudes above 4,000 meters takes three days and is an adventure in itself. During this stage, we’ll spend time on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc massif, using the hospitable Torino Hut as our base—accessible via the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car. The nearby peaks and ridges rising above the glaciers offer a perfect training ground for the actual Mont Blanc ascent.
- Stage 2: Summit Ascent of Mont Blanc
After completing the acclimatization phase, it’s time for the summit push. On the first day, we take a cable car and hike up to the Gouter Hut. The next day is long and demanding. We wake up in the middle of the night, have breakfast, and begin the climb with the aim of reaching the summit early in the morning. Then comes a long descent back into the valley, with a short rest at the hut.
Climbing Mont Blanc via the normal route is also commonly done in six days. This option gives us three days for acclimatization and three days for the summit push and descent, with overnight stays in two mountain huts. This version is preferred due to the smaller daily elevation gains.
Alternative Routes to Mont Blanc with an IVBV Guide
I also guide ascents of Mont Blanc via alternative routes. You can choose the 3 Monts Route (via Mont Blanc du Tacul and Mont Maudit), or the so-called Pope’s Route from the Italian side of the massif.
