Żabia Lalka

Location

Żabia Lalka (2095 m.) is an amazing, sharp needle situated high above Morskie Oko lake. It is neighbouring Żabi Mnich, well known by Tatra climbers. Looking at Żabia Lalka from Morskie Oko you can recognise its characteristic shape.

Climbing and timing

The easiest route leading to the tiny top is graded III UIAA making it one of the most inaccessible peaks in the polish Tatras. An approach to the wall is quite long and not the easiest as well. Considering all above, Żabia Lalka is a serious and rewarding outing.

An approach goes through rock steps of Wyżni Białczański Żleb (gully) towards a steep diagonal ledge. Once it’s climbed, the terrain gets even steeper and we start to conquer the needle. After few lengths of rope, we find ourselves on the tiny peak of Żabia Lalka. No more then 3 people can stand on its top in the same time.

To get down, I lower my clients on the rope for two long abseils, followed by a long and steep gully descent.

Maybe not the easiest on my offer, but certainly rewarding. Give it a try!

Climbing difficulties are never above III UIAA grade, but complicated topography of this mountain requires good knowledge of terrain, especially when the weather turns bad.

This outing is definitely for guests with good fitness level, and some previous experience in moving confidently in the mixed mountain terrain.

It usually take 8-10 hours to complete this outing.

Safety

I provide the rope protection all the way up and down the mountain.

Do not be affraid. The rope techniques used by qualified guides on this type of outings guarantee maximum safety and give you strong confidence. Guide will always climb first to make sure you are on the top rope all the time. When down climbing, guide will go last and above you for the same safety reason.

Equipment

All necessary climbing gear (helmets, harnesses, rope, etc. and in winter avalanche ABC, ice axes and crampons) is provided without any additional cost.

This offer is for two guests maximum. Price depends on the time of the year and the number of people. Please apply for more info.
